The Automotive Science Group’s (ASG) annual study known as the Automotive Performance Index™, found the all-new 2017 Jeep Compass to hold the lowest cost of ownership among all Crossovers, earning the distinguished BEST ECONOMIC PERFORMANCE Award in class. In ASG’s data-driven automotive assessment, the Compass outperformed all 198 Crossovers (with trim variants) in its competitive class, holding claim to the lowest cost of ownership when considering purchase and operating costs across the first 6.5 years of vehicle ownership (87,594 miles).
While the market segment has shifted significantly over these past years, with competitors altering vehicle size and price to better compete with market segment leaders, the all-new 2017 Jeep Compass has made the most notable advances in 2017, to win its first honor in ASG’s annual study.
The 2017 Hyundai Tucson earned the Automotive Science Group’s (ASG) 2017 BEST 5 ALL-AROUND PERFORMANCE honor, and is distinguished among an elite group of five vehicles in the Crossover class. In areas of environmental, social and economic performance, the three fundamentals of ASGʼs annual data-driven Automotive Performance Index™ (API) Study, the Tucson performed among the top five vehicles in a competitive class comprised of 198 Crossovers for model year 2017. BEST 5 honored models are the best overall performers in class and are among ASG's top selections for 2017. While the Tucson has long been identified as a good value selection in the growing segment, ASG now acknowledges the Tucson as a best all-around value selection, with environmental, social and economic considerations.
When assessing and comparing all 2017 Crossover/SUV offerings in head to head comparisons, irrespective of class division, the 2017 Hyundai Tucson stood out as one of a slim few vehicles to earn a position on ASG’s 2017 ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE INDEX (SUV), 2017 ECONOMIC PERFORMANCE INDEX (SUV) and 2017 ALL-AROUND PERFORMANCE INDEX (SUV). Each Index is comprised of the 20 best performing vehicles available to consumers in North America. See THE STUDY for more information.
